Bourne Programs

Bourne Youth Lacrosse announces the addition of a new program for our youngest players.

The WeeLax program will be for Pre K & 1st Grade (4-7 year olds) boys & girls. The program is open to Bourne residents as well as children that attend Bourne schools and pre schools.

Please visit the Spring program page for details and registration.

Bourne Youth Lacrosse has contracted with CroART Sports to provide administration, coaching & insurance for these new programs.  CroART has been a local leader in lacrosse instruction for the last decade - especially at the youngest levels.  CroART has partnered with numerous town programs to build out their very successful beginner programs.

The program requires no equipment, is designed to be non-contact, played with mini sticks/soft balls, and provide a fun introduction to the world of lacrosse for children.  The programs combine a Lacrosse curriculum featuring on gross motor skills, fundamental ball skills, footwork, sport terminology and fitness components. Our aim is to create a passion for the sport of lacrosse that a child will have for the rest of their life.

Please note: The WeeLax program is in addition to the existing Boys and Girls U9 program and offers a 'lighter' option for 1st time players.  The U9 program requires full equipment and consists of two practices and one game per week against other towns.

FAQ

Do I need to purchase any equipment in order for my son or daughter to play?

- Only a stick is required & each child will receive one for use as part of their participant fee. If they would like to purchase they can for an additinal fee.

My child is in first grade & has never played lacrosse before.  Should he sign up for WeeLax or the U9 boys team?

- That is entirely up to you.  The U9 program is also geared towards beginner player but there is more of a commitment.  Full equipment must be purchased, there are two practices & one game per week against other towns (travel).  The WeeLax program will only meet once per week & require no equipment.
